Following the Higgs mode across the BCS-BEC crossover in two dimensions

چکیده

Although substantial effort has been dedicated to analyzing the Higgs (amplitude) mode in superconducting systems, there are relatively few studies of peak's dispersion and width, quantities which observable spectroscopic measurements. These properties can be obtained from location pole amplitude (Higgs) susceptibility lower half plane complex frequency. We analyze behavior a two-dimensional neutral fermionic superfluid at $T=0$ throughout crossover Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) behavior. This occurs when dressed chemical potential $\ensuremath{\mu}$ changes sign positive negative. For $\ensuremath{\mu}>0$, we find frequency demonstrate that it leads well-defined peak probes. $\ensuremath{\mu}<0$, still exists but is ``hidden,'' not giving rise Extending this analysis charged superconductor, unaffected by long-range Coulomb interaction.

Goldstone and Higgs Hydrodynamics in the BCS–BEC Crossover

We discuss the derivation of a low-energy effective field theory of phase (Goldstone) and amplitude (Higgs) modes of the pairing field from a microscopic theory of attractive fermions. The coupled equations for Goldstone and Higgs fields are critically analyzed in the Bardeen–Cooper–Schrieffer (BCS)-to-Bose–Einstein condensate (BEC) crossover—both in three spatial dimensions and in two spatial ...

Critical velocity for superfluid flow across the BEC-BCS crossover.

Critical velocities have been observed in an ultracold superfluid Fermi gas throughout the BEC-BCS crossover. A pronounced peak of the critical velocity at unitarity demonstrates that superfluidity is most robust for resonant atomic interactions. Critical velocities were determined from the abrupt onset of dissipation when the velocity of a moving one-dimensional optical lattice was varied. The...

Crossover from BCS to BEC ? —

We discuss a possibility of transition from color superconductivity of the standard BCS type at high density, to Bose-Einstein Condensation (BEC) of Cooper pairs at lower density. Examining two-flavor QCD over a wide range of baryon density, we found the size of a Cooper pair becomes small enough to be comparable to the averaged quark-quark distance at lower density. We also consider the same p...

BCS-to-BEC crossover from the exact BCS solution

The BCS-to-BEC crossover, as well as the nature of Cooper pairs, in superconducting and Fermi superfluid media is studied from the exact ground state wave function of the reduced BCS Hamiltonian. As the strength of the interaction increases, the ground state continuously evolves from a mixed system of quasifree fermions and pair resonances BCS , to pair resonances and quasibound molecules pseud...

BCS-BEC crossover in an asymmetric two-component Fermi gas

– We discuss the superfluid phase transition of a strongly interacting Fermi gas with unequal (asymmetric) chemical potentials in two pairing hyperfine states, and map out its phase diagram near the BCS-BEC crossover. Our approach includes the fluctuation contributions of “preformed Cooper pairs” to the thermodynamic potential at finite temperature. We show that, below a critical difference in ...
